Allied – Psychologist In Dubai

I understand that the prospect of seeing a therapist can be a daunting one. As human beings I think that we sometimes neglect how valuable it can be to share our worries and problems with others. For me, I endeavour to break down the stigma that we as a society have created around talking about our feelings, and aim to create and maintain a space that feels safe, non-judgmental, empathic and warm, in order for you to feel comfortable enough to share.

For therapy to be successful I, as an Allied Psychologist in Dubai recognise the importance of sharing an understanding of your experiences of life, an understanding that is without assumptions or a need to label or categorise. Forming a shared and compassionate understanding of your problems is fundamental in considering ways to address and resolve these difficulties, and if necessary establishing alternative ways to cope. Whilst I consider the process of talking invaluable and recognise the impact this can have on healing, I may also seek to implement behavioural change in an effort to support you in moving forward with your life in a more rewarding and fulfilling way.

My experience

I am currently employed as an Allied Psychologist in Dubai, working as a Consultant Counselling Psychologist at the Psychiatry and Therapy Centre. I am qualified at Doctorate level, and, prior to moving to the UAE, worked in the National Health Service in the United Kingdom for 6 years supporting individuals from ages 14 to 60 with varying difficulties. I received my Masters degree in Psychology from Kingston University of London, and went on to receive my Profession Doctorate in Counselling Psychology (DPsych) from the University of East London.

As a part of my Doctoral training I gained the skills to work with various therapeutic models including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person Centred Therapy, and Psychodynamic approaches. Continued professional development has broadened my skill set to include compassion-focused therapy, cognitive analytical therapy, graded exposure training, and acceptance and commitment therapy, which I incorporate into my therapeutic work. My clinical experience has further developed my knowledge and understanding of working with these models, and as such I have chosen an integrative approach. By using an integrative approach, I am able to draw on these various models of therapy to support my psychological understanding of your presenting difficulties.

I have extensive experience working with those suffering from an eating disorder. My experience transcends to those with Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge-Eating Disorder, Purging Disorder. I have worked with clients in various settings including inpatient, day-patient and out-patient.

Alongside this specialism I have experience and currently work with adolescents and adults (13+) with complex difficulties, these include:
