What to Expect

It is completely normal to feel uncertain or nervous before starting therapy. In the early sessions, your therapist will focus on getting to know you—your reasons for seeking therapy, the challenges you are facing, and the type of help you are looking for. There is no expectation for you to have complete clarity at the start. Understanding and direction emerge over time within the therapeutic relationship.

Yes. We offer a free 15-minute introductory call so you can ask questions, share what you are seeking support for, and get a sense of whether the clinician feels like a good fit.

Therapy is a space to explore your thoughts, emotions, and patterns of behaviour with the support of a trained therapist. Sessions may involve reflecting on past experiences, current challenges, or how you relate to others.

A psychiatry session may involve exploring your mental health history, discussing current symptoms, and considering whether medication could be helpful. However, our approach is not strictly medical. Sessions are also a space to talk openly, build trust, and be seen as a whole person—not just a diagnosis. If needed, your therapist can refer you to a psychiatrist who is well-suited to support you.

No. Early sessions focus on getting to know you. Your clinician will move at your pace and give you space to share when you are ready, without pressure or judgment.

The relationship you build with your clinician plays a significant role in how helpful the process feels. If the fit does not feel right, it is okay to talk about it. Your clinician can help explore options, including referrals to another professional who might be better suited.
