Kim Henderson

Psychologist

Background

Kim is a UK-trained psychologist from Liverpool with extensive experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide range of psychological conditions. She adopts a holistic, evidence-based approach, integrating various therapeutic modalities to provide individualised care. Recognising that psychological well-being is deeply personal, she tailors interventions to align with each client’s unique cognitive, emotional, and behavioural needs.

“When you cannot see the light, I will sit beside you in the dark.”

Professional Journey and Clinical Expertise

Kim earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Glasgow before completing a postgraduate degree at Glasgow Caledonian University. She then pursued a Master of Science at the University of Manchester, refining her expertise in psychological research and clinical application.

During her academic training, she provided psychological support through ChildLine and Rape Crisis Services in Manchester, as well as working within the Oncology department at Manchester Children’s Hospital, supporting patients and families navigating chronic illness and trauma.

Following her postgraduate studies, Kim worked within two NHS trusts, gaining extensive clinical experience in psychological assessment and intervention. At NHS Kent and Medway, she specialised in individual and family therapy for older adults with cognitive impairments, later expanding her focus to include younger adults with neurodegenerative conditions. She then transitioned to the Leeds and York NHS Partnership Trust, where she delivered psychological interventions across the lifespan, working within inpatient services, community mental health, and dementia care. Her role also involved crisis intervention, trauma-focused therapy, and multidisciplinary collaboration with emergency services.

Since coming back to Dubai six years ago, Kim has continued to develop her clinical practice, working with a diverse client base. She is deeply committed to neuropsychological assessment and is an experienced ADOS assessor. Her passion for neurodiversity extends beyond diagnostic evaluation, informing her therapeutic work to ensure that individuals receive strengths-based, developmentally appropriate support.

In addition, Kim has undertaken specialised training from the Gottman institute to enhance her work with couples and relationship difficulties, helping partners navigate conflict, improve communication, and foster healthier emotional connections.
